PEC water meter ****

They **** customers:

Mail sent after they claim a meter was "replaced"- Response was they cant send proof as it was wear and tear related .

Good day

Can you please send proof as I don't accept this poor response! . A meter has no wear and tear - nobody in the body corp has experienced this issue as i have checked with the Chairman. The hand held component was not replaced and the batteries in the device were working just fine - this has been confirmed with the tenant .

I also have proof from when the issue occurred and was raised, that the reason given had nothing to do with the water meter or anything that you have claimed in this engagement , The Body corp has charged a special levy to bring PEC onboard and install their meters recently , there is no way that the meters have such a short life span .

PEC Utility are ****ming customers by stopping supply and demanding an unjust payment to resume supply and using this excuse of a defective meter . Users are then held hostage and forced to pay or you violate a basic human right .

You cannot provide any documentation to justify , please provide a job card and I will corroborate with the tenant and get it documented .

If proof cannot be supp**** , I will be perusing the matter with CGSO and exposing your business practices on social media platforms .

Thanks

Dear Mr Saroop,  PEC takes note of your grievance placed on Hello Peter.  I have investigated the matter and can confirm the following:  PEC did not cut your water; the apartment is supp**** with water through a prepaid water meter. The Body Corporate of Lalapanzi required PEC’s professional service by taking over the prepaid water meters from the previous service provider who canceled their contract with the Body Corporate as they were no longer willing to work with the meters at Lalapanzi.  The prepaid water meters that were used at that time were all out of warranty on the day PEC took over with more than 80% of them being faulty. PEC replaced the water meters from the day we took over, the instruction provided to the Body Corporate was that the meters will be replaced as the product used is not reliable and gives endless problems.  The meter at your apartment was found to be faulty as the tenant last purchased water in Feb 2023, the meter was replaced in May 2023. No backdate for water consumed was done for the period Feb to May 2023. Take note that we are not referring to the keypad nor the batteries inside of the keypad, the prepaid water meter which is situated on the outside of the apartment was faulty and has its own battery and components. When referring to wear and tear, the meter works with a valve that opens and closes. This action drains the battery especially when a consumer loads tokens on a daily basis. You do therefore have maintenance on the meter as it is not a reading meter that requires no maintenance.  The newly installed PEC meter comes with a 3-year manufacturer warranty and has a battery life of +- 6 years which the previous meter did not have.  The statements made by yourself, by blaming PEC for mis-acting are false and misleading, please provide me with the proof you are referring to so that I can further investigate the matter should the proof be valid. Please email to ***  Do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.  Kind Regards Sarel Wolmarans
