PEC ****** WITH ESKOM
My meter no is *** address Ashwood Centre, Parklands. Run by PEC Utility Management.<br> <br> I just bought R100 electricity and only received 61.5kWh. It is the 2nd of the month and it is only me and my son living here. How do you explain such little electricity .<br> <br> I phoned PEC Utility Management and a Jaco explain to me that if they sell the electricity to me at normal price R0.83 they will not be making money that is why they must sell it to me at R1.42 . I am not a high consumption user and do safe now I must be penalised for someone else to make money. How fair is this? I do not wish to be subjected to this any longer. Please advise me on how to get rid of this box or the middleman. <br> <br> Where is Eskom in all of this. All of us living in the complex are high consumers because PEC buys in bulk. This is not on SA. This is ****************. ESKOM HELP. We pay enough why the middleman with his own pricing???<br>
Electricity tariffs is a challenge that exist throughout South Africa and impacts on many residential and even commercial consumers of electricity. The situation unfortunately exists (as at Ashwood) that the cost at which we purchase electricity on the bulk supply costs more than the tariff at which we should be selling the electricity as per ESKOM's published tariffs.
ESKOM gives the developer of a complex the choice to take a bulk electrical supply and the developer of Ashwood made such choice at the beginning.
The problem is now that ESKOM views the bulk supply as a commercial connection / client due to the size of the bulk supply but there is an expectation from a re-seller (such as PEC) to sell the electricity at residential tariffs. It does not make financial sense to buy electricity at commercial tariffs and sell it residential tariffs
Even if the middleman is taken out of the equation the problem will still exist.
As my colleague wrote to you per email correspondence previously, we are working hard behind the scenes with the relevant role players such as NERSA to find a solution to the problem.
