Disappointing Service

If I could rate them a zero I would but I had to select one in order to proceed. So PEC metering decided together with my rental Agency (CASADOBE PROPERTIES)without my consent to load a debt onto my electricity meter. For a debt that is unknown to me . How is this even legal? When I loaded electricity for 1000.00 , I was slapped with 850.00 debit and given only 20 units as opposed to the usual 250 units. When I queried this with PEC they advised that Casadobe Properties have loaded a debt onto my meter and I need to resolve this issue with them .I’m left with no Electricity and there’s nothing I can do about it . How low can you go ?.

Hi there ,

Such a standard answer to give . It has taken you the whole day and no one has managed to resolve this. In the meantime I am unable to buy electricity , the basic need you have managed to take away from me without my consent. Please refund my units of R850 as soon as possible.

You have not even asked for any details such as the meter number etc , so how are you working on this ?

This is a matter of urgency.

This is an email I received from PEC METERING not sure why it can’t be written here for everyone to see.

Dear Nonkoliseko,
Thank you for your feedback.

We are sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must be.
Please note that PEC Utility Management, as the metering service provider, does not load any debt onto a meter without formal written instruction from the property owner or their appointed managing agentin this case, Casadobe Properties.

We do not have visibility into the origin or nature of the debt that was loaded, and therefore cannot provide any further detail on it.We strongly recommend that you contact Casadobe Properties directly to obtain clarity on the debt that was added to your meter.
Once we receive official instruction from them, we will gladly assist in facilitating any necessary adjustments or corrections.
If, after reviewing our response and explanation, you wish to reconsider and retract the one-star rating you left on the Hello Peter platform, we would sincerely appreciate it.
If theres anything further, we can assist with regarding the metering side, please feel free tocontact our support team directly.Kind regards

I’m not sure how an alleged rental debt can be loaded on a pre-paid electricity meter ? How do these 2 mix ? It’s a prepaid meter and it has nothing to do with the rental property. Also, What proof did you receive from Casadobe Properties that I’m owing them because I have no signed contract or agreement with these people but they were able to instruct you to load a debt unknown to me onto my meter box inconveniencing me and family as I’m currently without electricity and unable to load units .Casadobe Properties are not responding to me to tell me what is going on . My emails are falling on deaf ears. Maybe it’s time to involve my lawyers . I’m sure that is the only way forward now.

Dear Nonkoliseko Mdandalaza,

As mentioned in our previous response, PEC acts on the instruction of the managing agent/Landlord. We received a directive to apply debt to the prepaid meter associated with your unit.

Please note that we do not have, and should not have, insight into individual tenants’ rental agreements. Our role is strictly to provide and maintain the metering platform.

Cassadobe Props – whom you may not be fami**** with, is the owner of the building in which you are renting. The meters belong to them, and we act on their mandate as a Vending agent, as explained in our previous email.

You indicated that you have already purchased R1,000 worth of electricity. This information should be shared directly with your managing agent, who is responsible for taking the necessary steps to address and potentially remove the debt from your meter.

In the meantime, you may continue purchasing tokens as normal to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.

We regret that your emails have gone unanswered and recommend contacting your managing agent by phone, as this may result in a quicker resolution.

Kind regards,
