My experience with Paystack's business verification process has been extraordinarily frustrating and disappointing.
I approached Paystack as a legitimate business seeking to use its payment services. Instead of receiving a clear, consolidated explanation of the requirements, I experienced what appeared to be a repetitive, fragmented and increasingly vague verification process.
I provided the information requested about my business, explained how the business operates, supp**** information about my products and policies, and directed Paystack to the relevant location of my products on my online store.
Yet the requests continued.
The most concerning request was to provide samples of my products so that Paystack could “verify the ownership and authenticity” of them.
That wording raises an obvious question:
What exactly does Paystack mean by “authenticity”?
No specific concern was clearly explained to me. No specific product was identified as problematic. No clear explanation was provided as to what evidence would satisfy this requirement.
I have absolutely no problem with legitimate compliance and verification procedures. Payment providers have every right to conduct appropriate checks.
What I object to is a process in which a legitimate business is repeatedly asked for additional information without receiving a clear explanation of what is actually required, why it is required, and what specific concern needs to be resolved.
The overlapping requests gave me very little confidence that the process was being handled in a properly coordinated or competent manner.
My time is valuable. I should not have to repeatedly respond to vague requests simply because the requirements were not clearly communicated in the first place.
Ultimately, the experience destroyed my confidence in Paystack as a payment provider. I decided that I would rather take my business elsewhere than continue spending time attempting to satisfy an unclear and seemingly endless verification process.
I have closed my business relationship with Paystack and will not be using the platform.
Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Paystack to a business owner who values clear communication, transparency and an efficient onboarding process.
If you are considering Paystack, I strongly recommend that you carefully investigate its verification requirements and understand exactly what documentation it may request before committing your time and business to the platform.
This review reflects my own experience of Paystack's onboarding and verification process and the reasons I decided to discontinue my relationship with the company.
For me, the most important lesson from this experience is simple:
A payment provider should make legitimate businesses feel confident about doing business with them — not leave them wondering why they are being subjected to vague and repeatedly changing requests.
My experience: deeply disappointing. My confidence in the platform: gone. My recommendation: I would not use it.
