Billed for something i did not request.

I have been getting bills from Pathcare on my cellphone and email that i need to pay R1976.50, at first i did not understand what it was for until i asked at work and they said the OCSA Medical aid does not pay for blood test, and to remember correctly i was not feeling well and went to the doctor she run some tests and later told me she was going to do blood test and asked me to come back again for results, she asked me to call certain hospitals to ask if they can do abdominal ultrasound because certain procedures are not done on the medical aid, but yet she sent the blood to pathcate, and did not bother to call ask them if its covered or not, now im being liable to pay for something i did not ask for because i did not ask for any blood tests to be done. And recently i got a private number calling to tell me, i have to pay the amount or my account will be handed over to the lawyers, i don't have such amount and feel like before you can do a procedure you check if the medical aid listed can cover it or not.
