Quoting for work without actually assessing what the problem is.
My issue is at the branch in Port Elizabeth. They are sending quotes without properly assessing the issue. I bought a laptop in that had an issue with its screen not working. When i took it in i explained the situation and that the screen didn't just stop working but had started flickering first which to me seemed to be a loose cable so i specifically asked if they could check the cables. They then sent a quote stating that the LED had failed and that i must pay over R5000 to replace it. I felt this was way too much to pay so i then took it to another laptop repair store in town for a second opinion. They informed me that the only issue with the screen was a cable that had come loose, and they plugged it back in and returned the laptop in a working condition. This raises serious ethical concerns with regards to partserve claiming they had run a diagnostics test on the laptop as the screen was not even plugged in. It is of my opinion that the technician didnt even check the laptop as surely a cable not being plugged in would be clear to see, and rather just quoted for a new screen hoping to make a quick sale. I would encourage anyone taking any device to partserve for repairs to first take it somewhere else for a second opinion as this place is just trying to ******* customers in a very ********* manner.
