Breach of Warranty and ******** Retention of Goods — Warning to All Consumers

I submitted my Epson L1250 printer for warranty repair to Game Keywest on 24 March 2025, three days before the expiry of the 1-year warranty. Despite providing full proof of purchase and clear repair documentation, Game and their repair agent Partserve Channel Support wrongfully rejected the warranty, citing a minor consumable part (valued at only R52) to avoid their legal obligations.

I was quoted R1784.80 for repairs (almost the price of a brand-new printer) and then told I would have to pay R650 labour and R450 courier fees simply to retrieve my unrepaired printer. My 3/4 full ink tanks were also ignored. This is a blatant breach of the Consumer Protection Act and a serious warning to any consumers considering buying from Game.

Warranties are meaningless when you are treated like this, and Game's customer care has offered no real assistance despite multiple escalations. I have now escalated the matter to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) and the National Consumer Commission (NCC) for investigation.

Think twice before purchasing from Game — if your item fails under warranty, you may find yourself with no support, hefty charges, and no way to retrieve your property without paying ransom fees.

Thank you for reaching out to us.  We actually did repair your unit in warranty.   We attempted to call the store to advise that they may collect your unit, but failed.  We will attempt to call the store again tomorrow in order for them to collect the repaired unit.

Reviewer Update
Good day,
Your response is completely unacceptable.
Claiming that the unit has been repaired and that attempts were made to contact the store is simply not true.
Neither myself nor the store has received any communication or notification regarding the collection of the unit.

I have been following up for over a month, and the fact that both Game and I have no record of any attempted contact from Partserve clearly shows that you are not being honest.

This blatant dishonesty and lack of accountability is unacceptable.
I demand clear proof of:

1. When exactly the alleged repairs were completed,
2. When and how the store was contacted (date, time, person spoken to),
3. Where the unit currently is.

Enough false information has been given.
If I do not receive a proper, factual, and immediate response, I will escalate this matter formally through all necessary consumer protection and legal channels.
