Zero acknowledgement of damage to vechile
I have been using Parklane parking services for about 5 years on and off. It was a reliable company in which I believed I had a relationship and trust.
Initially all parking was signed with a signed agreement when I left my car with them. However my job requires urgent travel from time to time and in these circumstances I use their services and a contract is not in place., either because I do not book on line or the collection team do not always have one on them. In hindsight I should have insisted.
On my most recent exsperaince a contract was not in place and the gentleman who has collected my car in the past jokingly commented that I had not fixed my door handle yet. We both agreed that the car was in good order and he took it to their premises for storage while I went on my urgent trip.
When I returned a day later my car was ready for me at OR Tambo drop off. I noticed a large crack on the windscreen and I asked the person who dropped off the car what had happened. He told me that the car was like this when he got it and I must phone the owner.
When I messaged the owner and asked what happened they said they would ask the gentleman who collected my car. They responded that he agreed that only the door handle was broken and nothing else. But they wanted to speak to him in person. When I followed up with another message they said he was busy and had not come in.
On the final message Parklane said that I had not signed a contract , the window was broken and was confirmed my the gentleman who collected my car. This according to Parklane was the nature of their business and the risk was mine to use their services.
It’s not the window that bothers me but the lying and poor attitude to their customers and accepting responsibility. I would advise that you do not use this service and if you do make sure you sign the contract even if they do not have one. Write out your own as you as a customer are not of value.
