I am writing a formal complaint regarding the appalling billing administration and lack of accountability at *Netcare Parklane Hospital*. My husband and I have been battling for weeks to get an ICD-10 coding error CORRECTED - an error made on YOUR side - and instead of fixing it, we are now being threatened by your physio department with handover to lawyers. *What happened:* 1. Before my discharge, my husband went to reception at Parklane to confirm that all accounts were in order and that everything was covered. We were ASSURED by your staff after checking my profile that NO PAYMENTS WERE DUE. 2. Weeks later, we were then told there is an issue with the ICD-10 codes and that our claim was rejected. This was YOUR coding error, not ours. 3. Since then, I have been given the complete run-around. We have sent numerous emails between the physio, the hospital billing department, and Dr. Mohammed Moolla's rooms. Everyone is playing the blame game and no one is taking ownership. 4. We contacted Dr. Moolla's rooms who said they would resubmit the correct codes. To date, NOTHING has happened. 5. Now the physiothe****** is threatening to hand us over to their lawyers for non-payment of an account that should have been correctly claimed from the medical aid in the first place. I am a patient who is still RECOVERING. I should not be the one doing admin work and chasing YOUR staff to correct YOUR mistake. I was previously admitted at Netcare Mulbarton where I received daily physio and never experienced this kind of incompetence and lack of care. This has caused immense stress and anxiety during my recovery period. What I demand 1. That Parklane Hospital immediately corrects the ICD-10 codes on your side and resubmits to the medical aid. 2. Written confirmation that no legal action will be taken against us while this error that YOU made is being rectified. 3. A single point of contact / case manager to resolve this within 48 hours, instead of bouncing us between departments. I have all email trails as proof of us trying to resolve this. If this is not resolved urgently, I will be escalating this to the Netcare Head Office complaints department, the Health Professions Council, and the Council for Medical Schemes. Patient Name: Zaheeda Bakhas This needs urgent intervention.
