My first time at Panarottis was at West Gate and it was HORRIBLE

On the 6th of December, 2024, after my younger sister received an academic award at her school, my mother and I decided to celebrate by treating her to brunch at Panarottis Westgate. It was our first time visiting the restaurant, and we were served by a lovely waitress who was sweet and professional. For our meal, I ordered a pasta dish with mushrooms, peppers, chicken, and "white sauce." Initially, I wanted the Alfredo pasta, but since I don’t eat pork, the waitress suggested this alternative. My mom and sister opted for a half cheese pizza, a chicken mayo pizza, and barbecue chicken wings. Our order arrived in 16 minutes, which was fairly quick.

However, the experience quickly turned disappointing. I had expected complementary bread, given that Panarottis is an Italian-inspired restaurant with a long history since 1990 and a 3½-star rating. When I raised this with our waitress, she informed me that complimentary garlic bread is only available if you sign up for their app. We received the garlic bread only after paying the bill, but it turned out to be pizza crust with garlic rather than proper garlic bread. The taste was awful—I gagged after the first bite and couldn’t eat it.

The pasta I ordered was even worse. It lacked spices and flavor, and the peppers were raw. It was supposed to be creamy, but it failed in every way. As someone who loves pasta and dreams of visiting Italy, this dish was a massive disappointment. It was the worst pasta, if not the worst meal, I have ever eaten. My mom and sister found the pizza decent but far from great. The cheese pizza was dry, earning a 4/10, while the chicken mayo pizza was slightly better at 7/10. The chicken wings were another letdown—the smallest I have ever seen and hardly worth the price.

Overall, our experience at Panarottis Westgate was horrible. While the service was excellent, the food quality and taste were deeply disappointing. I left with no intention of ever returning and a diminished expectation of Italian cuisine. Panarottis failed to meet even the most basic standards of flavor and quality.
