Pace rental stalling repayment of deposit

I rented a vehicle for about 6 months. During this period, we had to exchange the bakkie about three times due to mechanical issues.

I recently returned the vehicle, after almost paying just short of R100k for the period and additional charges for km we exceeded. We opted for an option where we would receive additional km per day...

Now after returning the vehicle, we are battling to get our deposit back. Apparently the payments were allocated incorrectly and now we have to wait... I was told that there were various other clients with the same name and it is not that easy to reconcile the repayments of over charged fees. I was also told that the person dealing with this file was on leave due to personal reasons. Is there only one person that can sort this out in the whole of SA?

This just doesn't make sense! We paid and actually twice asked for a cheaper vehicle quote and never received the quote. I also realised that the km readings they charged us for, was incorrect and we most likely paid for km that we never used also.

I guess that if things were more accurate regarding the invoicing and km charged, we would have gone on renting even longer.

When we had to exchange the vehicles, I was asked to take the vehicle to their dealers were the exchange would take place. That was time that I could use focusing on my business. The other occassion, they let me wait till late in the afternoon before delivering the vehicle, again time waisted. This was raised with the manager and she hesitantly agreed to give us a small discount.

Will I recommend Pace rental going forward? Not sure that I can!!!

Dear Mr Groenewald

Sorry to hear you are disappointed in the service and vehicle you received.

As you are aware, the continues fault with the vehicle is a warranty claim and in fact the vehicle is still at the Dealer – not a good adverti*****t for them.

Regarding the refund, whilst there was a problem locating your funds, your refund will be processed today.

Our sincere apologies again for the inconvenience caused to you – please reach out to Cathy when next you require a vehicle and she will ensure that you are looked after.

A day after you (Pace) said that the refund will be processed and still nothing.

I spoke with Anzio and it is clear that I am given the run around. Last invoice received it was evident that the km calculatiins have been done incorrectly. I was pushed for payment even though I stated that the km is incorrect, I was told make payment today or drop the vehicle off by 14:00.

I have been very patient even when the various vehicles broke down, costing me productivity and also having to pay for additional transport to get my guys to site.

Now, I sent Anzio a message and he told me my final invoice has been sent. Not true. Never received anything.

Usually I resort to an amicable solution for this type of thing. But it seems that when Pace requires payment, you have no issue to send messages and harass clients even late on a Sunday evening! Now my messages are being ignored or put on the back burner? Is this because that after paying almost R100k over 6 months, you have made enough money from this sucker and now you are stalling the repayment of moneys owed? Or is it a case of people being employed not fully trained or informed of how to do their job?

I would really like to be informed soon because I feel that I am being misled.

Also please note that I have an email that was sent to Cathy explaining to her losses incurred due to vehicle breakdowns and the financial implications it had on our business' cashflow and the knock on effect there of.

I am utterly frustrated and very disappointed!
