********* and Immoral!
On the 6th June 2017 – I emailed a registration form to Oxbridge Academy, detailing my course of study with a R200 registration deposit. Oxbridge Academy confirmed my registration and sent my student number via sms. Within two weeks, I had received my study pack. • On the 6th September 2017 – I had phoned Oxbridge Academy and queried about cancelling my course. I had spoken to Michelain. She informed me that my 30 day period upon registration had lapsed (to which I could cancel within the 30 days, free of charge), I now had to pay a cancellation fee of R500 and complete the cancellation form. She emailed this form to me. I emailed it back to her, together with my proof of payment of R500. This was all emailed to her on the 6th September 2017. On the 7th September 2017, I received an sms thanking me for my payment of R500…I then became doubtful, as to why thank me for my cancellation fee…anyway, I gave it time. • On the 21st September 2017, I contacted Oxbridge Academy – this time, I spoke to Andrea. She informed me that they did not receive my cancellation form and proof of payment. She asked for me to resend it to her, together with my email to Michelain (dated 6th September 2017). Andrea discussed the cancellation policy to me, although me telling her that this was not discussed to me by Michelain. I then emailed Andrea everything again. • On the 3rd October, Oxbridge Academy phoned me. I was talking to Sanctia. I emailed her the both emails I had sent to Michelain and Andrea. She again explained the cancellation policy to me. To which I told her, that my initial call dated the 6th September 2017 having spoken to Michelain (that during this call, the cancellation was not fully explained to me, that all Michelain told me was that I could pay the R500 cancellation fee and send the cancellation form, and then it will be cancelled). Sanctia, then asked me if on the 6th and 21st, if Oxbridge Academy had called me – I said no. That I had called them myself. She then told me, that she will try to trace the calls and listen to them. She emailed me, saying that she has not listened to all the calls. • On the 4th October, Andrea calls me and says that she cannot trace the calls, that there is no record of them. Then, she says that my reason on my cancellation form is not enough for Oxbridge Academy to approve my cancellation and that I must provide a 3mth bank statement to them, for them to see if I do have a financial constraint to discontinue my studies with them. I had told her that by them requesting this from me, it’s actually an invasion of my privacy. She then used a medical condition as an example as well, that Oxbridge Academy will only consider a cancellation form if they have medical reports from the doctor too. I find this totally ridiculous, for my personal details to be requested by them. By the way, I do suffer from Cluster Suicidal Migraines and also have a spinal back condition. • Why must Oxbridge now request all my personal details, to me this in invasion of privacy! I do not see reason, for me to continue paying them my balance owing of R6000, let alone my cancellation fee of R500 to them, when my intention has been/is to cancel my course. This is *********, immoral and impractical! Please help…
