Osmans Optical, Specstation (Braamfontein)

My experience was very unpleasant & in hindsight I think the Dr's behaviour was not alright because I later went to another optometrist & the new optometrist disapproved of the acts of the optometrist at Specstation. During my eye test at specstation none of the lenses were perfectly clear for me & the Dr, in my own words, basically said that my lenses shouldn't be perfectly clear & that because he's an optometrist he knows his work & because I don't know the science behind optometry, I basically don't know what lenses will be good for me. I was very respectful & gentle throughout our communication but there was irritation & frustration from the Dr's side on the concerns I had (that none of the lenses were perfectly clear for my eyes) & the Dr & reception said because I'm questioning their integrity it's better I cancel everything with them & find a new optometrist. I went to Torga Optical in Rosebank & I received the most excellent eye test service, the lenses were ranging from 1 to 10 & apparently lenses go even above 10 whereas at specstation I only had to choose between lenses 1-3 & none of them were perfect for me. So I think the Dr may have not had the resources to let me try lenses above 3 & acted defensively stating that I don't know the science behind optometry & made it seem like I don't trust them or maybe I don't believe they are qualified for the job (which was not even for a second, the case). Reception was however good & welcoming but I don't trust their eye services because from what I heard from my new optometrist a patient is meant to be 100% comfortable with their lenses because the patient is the one who will be wearing the glasses. So guys I'm sharing this review so you go knowing about my personal experience as a patient there. Emotions aside, everything written here is factual❤️.

Edit: Management has my number & should be able to get a hold of me as Specstation has my contact details so their reply to my review is, I think, just management managing myself & other people/fronting.

I even asked the optometrist at Specstation if there's such a thing as lense 4 that we could try (with my 0% knowledge of optometry) & even then he & his receptionist dismissed me & made it seem like I was a difficult patient. Why would an optometrist be uneasy/frustrated about a patient asking if there's a possibility of getting better lenses? Their service is therefore very questionable. Why didn't the optometrist say they don't have a lense 4 or answer my query in another direct way? Glasses are very expensive & there's no way I was going to take home lenses that I can't see with properly & an optometrist should surely know & support that instead of being frustrated & possibly taking the patient's concern as a personal attack on them.

I will be reporting the matter with Dr Cliff/Cliffard/Clifford (not sure of his name) to HPSCA.

Edit (2) : It's funny to me that immediately after my review there were 3 reviews praising Specstation, on the same day, whereas the review before mine was from a month ago. Greatest advice I got was to not trust every review because some are "man-made"/Done by the relevant person's friends & /or family to convince outside people everything is alright when it is not all alright. But I agree with the reviews along the lines of the Dr explaining everything properly, he explained everything on how the eye works in detail & I could see the passion he has for his career. Things just went south when it came to the eye lenses & his response to my concerns👎🏽
