Failed to deliver on time

I ordered a phone from Orange South Africa. It warns you that they carry no stock in SA and that it could take 8 days to come from Europe. Today is the 8th day and they have failed to deliver. Yesterday I went online and the status of the order was "Expected 1 Day". Today I go online and the status has changed to "Expected 4 Days". and I bet if I go online in 4 days it will say something else. It is companies like Orange that keep African countries in the 3rd world. Seriously it takes more that a week to get a phone from Europe to SA! Are they sending it on the back of a camel?

Hello Duncan,

Thank you for your comment,

We are sorry to receive your feedback, we would appreciate the opportunity to investigate this further.

It is correct that for items in stock in our European warehouse, we provide an estimate of 8 business days before you can expect the item to be available for shipment from our local warehouse in Johannesburg.

All items being imported from our European warehouse are shipped by Air so the transit time is usually 3 days on average however delays can also be encountered due to weather, airport closures etc...

It is a very rare occurrence for an item not to ship within the 8 business day estimate.

Could you please get in touch with us providing your order reference in orde to allow us to investigate this matter.

Please send this via e-mail to : contact dot za at orange dot com

Thanking you in advance,

Kind Regards

Orange South Africa

After some communication Orange did deliver when they said they would even though it was a bit longer than I expected to wait. I have therefore changed my rating to good.

Now I am sorry I changed the rating to 4 starts because the phone they sent me is faulty. The screen is discoloured in a few places down the left of the screen. Clearly Orange do no quality checks on the phones they sell because this fault can clearly be seen the second you start the phone. I reported it immediately and requested a new phone. They refused to even order a new phone from Europe until they had received the faulty phone back. This is ridiculous. It may be their policy but it is a poor policy. After telling me they would let me know when they would send someone to collect the phone, their courier company FedEx rocked up unnanounced. I have had to wait 2 days for them to respond regarding the returned phone. They now say I must wait at least 6 working days before I receive the replacement phone. I explained to them that I had to do a SIM swap from a mini SIM to a nano SIM to use the new phone and now I cannot use the nano SIM in my old phone so I now don't have a phone I can use at all. They informed me they can't send me a phone on loan because they are all out. Which means they must have a lot of people returning phones. I think the Orange store business practises are very poor and I probably won't use them again as a result.
