Useless insurance

I am insured with Ooba insure and on the 18th of August 2024, I reported to them that I had a burst pipe on my property. Claim no: OOBA***. After many calls and complaints eventually their service provider came to fix the leak. After fixing the said leak, my water meter was still turning. I reported this to Ooba insurance and was advised to open a second claim (even though it was the same complaint) and I had to pay an excess of R850 for something that was fixed!!!!! To date, the leak still hasn't been repaired. Ooba insure asked their service provider for a quotation, which was submitted and was in the region of R8000, they then sent an email to the service provider to amend the quotation and now they are only willing to pay R3900. Is it ethical for the insurer to request an amended quotation?? After all, it was their service provider that submitted the quotation. It's almost a month and the leak still hasn't been fixed. I have made so many calls to this company and no one returns any calls. I have now decided to sue with costs as my municipal bill keeps escalating and there is no resolution. PLEASE DO NOT INSURE WITH OOBA INSURE

Dear Sheryl,

I’m really sorry to hear about your frustrating experience

It’s clear you’ve faced significant delays and communication issues regarding your claim.
Your concerns about the handling of the quotations and the ongoing leak are valid, and it’s disappointing that you haven’t received the support you need.

One of our team members will reach out to you soon to discuss your complaint and work towards a resolution.
We appreciate your patience and hope to resolve this matter promptly.

Kind regards,
ooba insure

Further to my complaint, I have a copy of the quotation which is for an amount of R8244. 23 less the excess of R850 (which I already paid for, for a repair that wasn't fixed) which amounts to R7394. 23. I was informed by an ooba insure consultant that the reason that a second quotation was requested was because of the travel claim of the service provider. However the travel claim cost quoted was for an amount of R543. 90. Someone please do the math! This makes me question integrity of the company.
