Rejected Claim From Ooba/ Hollard

Good day

I would like to lodge a complaint against ooba/Hollard insurance.

I put in a claim for my garage door that was rejected due to (as per them wear and tear)

I opened the garage door and my pillars fell off and damaged the door and side rails.

They sent out an assessor from Digicall who found the following findings: Garage door has two pillar and the two pillar broke off and damages the pillar and the door. cause: Accidental damage

Digicall sent me the below report: Description Quantity Per ESTIMATE: Rejection (Digicall Assessing Solutions (Pty) Ltd) Claim # ********** , R White (Mr R White) Approved FLOORPLAN: Floorplan garage door 1 Supply single chromadeck roll-up garage door 1 EA 2 Fit & install garage door & remove old door 1 EA

As you can see the claim was approved by them for a new door and rejected by Hollard/Ooba

Garage door: The garage door is the old tip-up steel type with counterweights attached with steel cables over pulleys on either side of the door. The door is now sticky and operate very difficult. No impact damage or any insured peril that could cause any damage could be noticed. These doors are discontinued. Severe wear & tear damage was noticed to the door.

The bushes of the guide wheel rollers are worn out. The steel vertical guides are bent and was panel beated many times in the past. The one counterweight fell off and is eventually damaged. It is not cost effective to attempt repairing the door anymore. The door will have to be replaced with a steel roll-up type

I have now submitted this to the Ombudsman and have requested a rejection letter from Ooba and still no report
