Oobainsure - incompetence for sure!

Insured through Oobainsure, our external geyser broke a month ago. Oobainsure sent a contractor to replace the geyser. Now, a month later the new geyser (under warranty) broke. Since we reported the issue, Oobainsure has sent out three contractors (electricians and plumbers) who all came out and left after doing inspections, with a 4th inspection on its way but still, the issue is not being resolved. According to the electrician who was here this morning, the issue is the geyser installation done by Ooba’s contractor a month ago does not comply with regulations. It is quite worrying if an Ooba-appointed contractor’s work does not comply with regulations! Whenever we tried to follow up on when the geyser issue will be resolved we’ve had to re-explain the issue to Ooba’s call centre agents over and over, and every time they would disregard the information we gave them about previous inspections carried out by other contractors, only to send another contractor with incomplete info about what the problem is. We have now been without the use of a geyser for almost a week and a half and still, there is no end in sight for when the issue will be resolved. Our calls to speak to management have gone unanswered and it seems impossible to get past the incompetence of the call centre agents to resolve this issue, or perhaps management deems themselves too important to call us back. After ten years of being a client of Ooba, with multiple properties on our portfolio, it seems inevitable that we will have to part ways after this frustrating experience.

Hi Thinus

We're sorry to hear about your claims experience with your geyser. From your post, you've been left with no other option but to use this medium to reach out to us.

We apologize for the inconvenience not having a geyser has caused you especially in winter. Please allow us to escalate your claims request to a senior manager and try to get it resolved as soon as possible.

Regards

Claim number OOBA***/2 - In my opinion, if the fact that the geyser is under warranty is any cause for the delay in having the issue resolved, then the contractor who carried out the non-compliant installation of the geyser should have repaired or replaced the geyser at their cost in the first place, more than a week ago, and not letting your client get the short end of the stick through having to suffer.
