Incomplete work

I called them to report a damaged pipe in my house and they dug my house and replaced the pipe and never closed it and when i called to find out why I was then told that I took time to claim of which I had just noticed and was unsure of what it might be. And if that was the case why did they start the work and cancel the claim along the way?
