Avoid OOBA insurance at all costs!!!!😡
OOBA Insure is the epitome of disappointment!
I am writing to express my profound disappointment and dissatisfaction with the handling of my recent claim, [policy no: B***/claim no: MSA39862-1]. Despite providing all necessary information and documentation and following the required procedures, my claim was unjustly denied without a comprehensive explanation of the reasons behind this decision.
The following clause was included in one of the policy documents I received upon the bond approval:
“OOBA has finalised your bond approval through Standard Bank. For ease of administration, Standard Bank follow a process whereby they automatically implement their own Buildings Insurance policy despite clients having chosen to take out alternative cover. However, on registration of your bond, we have a process in place whereby we furnish Standard Bank with a copy of your OOBA Buildings Insurance policy schedule confirming that your property is already adequately insured. They will then terminate the temporary policy that was automatically incepted by them. This is at no cost to you. We undertake on your behalf to ensure that Standard Bank is provided with this confirmation immediately on registration of your bond”.
Can OOBA explain why they would undertake the responsibility of providing their own insurance if they do not intend to comply with and uphold all the policy clauses?" Furthermore, the process was unnecessarily delayed by a whole month, causing significant inconvenience and stress, even after I requested the claim to be expedited because I had just given birth to my baby.
Another letter confirming the policy documents state that: “To make sure that you and your family do not have to face the possibility of damage or destruction to your property without sufficient cover in place, OOBA has created a Buildings Protector Insurance policy specifically for property owners that will:
• Ensure that your property, including outbuildings, swimming pools, driveways, walls, gates and tennis courts are covered in the event of the damage or destruction of these items; • Meet the requirements of the bank providing you with your home loan, to ensure a smooth bond registration process;
Because Ooba deals specifically with mortgage bonds, the benefits of our policy have been tailor-made for homeowners.
It is concerning that OOBA insurance does not seem to care about the health implications of mould exposure resulting from the damages reported. It is saddening that it was clearly mentioned that one of the occupants is a new born, and OOBA does not seem to care, as a matter of fact, my baby with a developing immune system is already struggling with skin irritation and flu-like symptoms. OOBA is clearly failing to honour their goals “They offer a free Will service to help you plan for your family's future, ensuring they are taken care of even if something unforeseen happens, adding to the overall peace of mind”. I do not have a peace of period!!
OOBA’s terms and conditions state that: “When OOBA welcomes new clients, their policy documents typically outline the terms and conditions of the services they provide”. These documents are meant to ensure transparency and set clear expectations for both the client and the company.
From the outset, I expected a fair and transparent assessment of my claim. I assumed that the assessment went well, until I heard from the so-called Loss Adjustor, who was apparently sent by OOBA, claiming that my claim was a huge amount, and they therefore needed to ensure if there was a misrepresentation of events. However, this Loss Adjustor seems to be in agreement upon confirming the damages. But what was strange was his sudden interest in my personal matters. He seemed more interested in my personal life than in the task at hand.
Strange enough I was telephonically informed prior by the OOBA appointee “loss adjuster” that he will be only coming on the 1st of May (public holiday) to verify the damage reported however I was later told by one of the guys who was present in the premises that the lost adjuster posed challenging questions regarding the child place of birth and the maternity leave duration. From the above, it is clear that OOBA and its appointee lack integrity, professionalism, transparency and caring for their client.
The lack of clear communication and the prolonged delays have left me questioning the ethics, integrity and reliability of your services. It is disheartening to see that a company I trusted with my hard-earned money and my property for 12 years, to provide support during adverse events, has failed to uphold its promises. This is my 2nd claim since 2013/2014.
I urge OOBA to reconsider the decision and provide a detailed and justified explanation for the denial of my claim pertaining to policy clauses and regulations. What is the purpose of having a policy if not to cover such events? It appears that OOBA is attempting to evade their responsibilities in this situation.
Failure to address this matter promptly will result in involving Standard Bank, media outlets and advocates who are dedicated to holding establishments like yours accountable. I therefore request that my claim be handled with justice and fairness.
The only thing they excel at is collecting their monthly premiums and implementing annual increases without any justification or consideration for their customers. I truly should have listened when I was warned to see the need to cancel my policy with OOBA because they have a bad reputation online and otherwise, and sadly, I am experiencing this first-hand...
