Incorrect information given when needed most
We do not recommend Ooba for home loan assistance We used Ooba for our home loan assistance, as the realtor uses them for all their clients/properties. However, we will strongly advise to not use them and avoid at all costs! We asked for an estimation on our transfer costs, as we have money in an investment account that we are only able to withdraw once in five years from. What better time to use this right? We were given the estimate, in writing, on email, and withdrew according to what the ‘experts’ said. We then got the transfer costing from the lawyers and we were R27 500 short! HOW? When we specifically asked for what they know best. Turns out, Ooba had MISCALCULATED!! Now we have to fork out R27 500 in a loan because they are *********** and cannot do their job correctly. An apology email from Ooba does not rectify the mistake or help with the money still owed. Nothing has been done to rectify the situation. Appalling! They should pay the R27 500 for their miscalculation and incompetency! AVOID OOBA! Rather go with your bank, or any other home loan assisting company; they will be more accurate!

We acknowledge the error in the estimation of the transfer cost amount and regret the inconvenience that caused you given your deposit that effectively could only be drawn on once at this time. The error was a “human” one in capturing the purchase price of the home you were purchasing. You are correct that an apology doesn’t fix an error, but nonetheless we apologise. We want all our customers to have a positive customer experience. The correct figure, as the transferring attorneys will have pointed out, was the higher figure. While acknowledging our error, we are also glad that we could assist you with finding the home loan that was best for you.
