I just want to put it out there for anyone considering to get Oneplan Pet Insurance. One does not always understand the full benefit or disadvantage of Pet Insurance until you have experienced it. Although having your pet's teeth cleaned at the vet is necessary to combat disease and helps with pet wellness, Oneplan only covers up to R750 per pet per annum. (So my vet (and maybe I am going to the wrong vet) charges R2500 per pet for teeth cleaning. I have 2 pets, both insured with Oneplan. But note that from the R750 per annum you also need to cover their vaccinations which already costs anything from R500 - R650. So you are left with about R100 of the R2500 to claim for cleaning their teeth. I am totally willing to pay my share of the R2500. I only asked Oneplan if they could cover a portion of it under the Casualty benefit of R1300. They refused. So I do not want a reply on this review from Oneplan as I have enough emails that refers me to my policy document and telling me that they have my "fur-babies best interest at heart". I just want the everyone to know that Oneplan is very helpful, considerate and efficient in signing you up for a policy. And that is all that they are considerate about. I have also been under the impression the policy is supposed to cover accidents, but my greatest fear is that, one day if I should claim because my dog got injured in whatever accident/insident, Oneplan will reject my claim and maybe just pay the minimum R1300 casualty benefit. And we know that once a dog needs to go for scans and Xrays, that bill can be anything from R5000 and more. I saw a review of a lady dated 12 January 2023 (yesterday) on HelloPeter and that review gives me cause for concern. So why am I paying Oneplan more than R700 a month for my fur-babies. I don't know....
Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

The Classic plan that your fur-babies are covered on has day-to-day and In-hospital benefits. Kindly note that the Pet Med Savings benefit is a day-to-day benefit and may be used towards preventative care claims for your insured pet which includes voluntary sterilisation, vaccinations, deworming, tick and flea control, anal gland expression, dental scaling and polishing, nail clipping and chronic medication.
We are aware that the cover limit will not cover the full cost for the dental scaling and polishing of for your fur-babies teeth, however the pet med savings benefit offers clients the assistance towards preventative care claims which grants clients the option to utilize the benefit towards any of the listed items. Should clients feel that the cover limit is not enough, clients can choose to add on the Pet Med Booster which offers an additional amount of R750 towards preventative care claims.
A vet consultation, prescribed medication, pathology, radiology and medically justifiable dentistry, minor procedures and treatments or diagnostic tests will be covered under the Casualty benefit up to the cover limit of R1300 per a Casualty benefit claim and your fur-baby has 4 Casualty Benefit claims per a year. Kindly note that a tooth extraction will fall under the Casualty benefit up to the respective cover limit.
Should a diagnostic procedure result in a confirmed diagnosis the cost of the in-hospital corrective procedure can be reviewed under the authorized Hospital admission cover limit. If the invoice does not reflect a corrective procedure, it will be covered under the Casualty benefit. Kindly note that all in-hospital claims must meet our admission matrix which is found in your policy schedule.
We encourage all our clients and potential clients to ensure that they do understand all products available in the market and perhaps approach their Financial Advisor for a factual comparison of products as hearsay may cause a consumer to make a decision based on inaccurate information.
Certain terms and conditions are always applicable, and these are included in all policy documents before and during your experience with us. The terms and conditions of the policy must be adhered to and app**** fairly for all clients. Please note we are governed by the FAIS Act and must apply the TCF policy to ensure all our clients receive fair service and cover.
Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Kind Regards,
Oneplan

Kindly note that the additional fee of R75 for the Pet Med Booster benefit includes the excess buster for in-hospital claims, which you are currently paying R29 for, the Pet Med Booster will then replace the excess buster and will give you a total of R1500 to use towards preventative care claims annually.
We trust the above brings clarity on the matter.
