Private Sector Health Care

I was recently admitted to Netcare Mulbarton and then transferred to Netcare Union. On arrival Netcare staff were reluctant to help as they claim Oneplan does not pay for their services. Although I received great care at both Netcare branches, I just felt that they should not make any reservations when it comes to Oneplan. Not everyone can afford Medical Aid as opposed to Medical Insurance that is now challenging the system to say that Private Care needs to be more open to Insurance policies. Oneplan is taking care of my bills although Radiology SA made me sign acknowledgment of debt forms for the scans that I took as they refused to help me due to their claim that Oneplan does not pay. It is ********* to have a patient that is in need of emergency care, bleeding out, and in pain to ask for a signature on an AOD form. Oneplan is paying every single service provider that was needed to help with my procedure, so why was I made to sign AOD forms?

The prices of some of the scans are exorbitant as well and the Private Care sector needs to review the costs of these services to be more affordable to the larger community.

I almost feel like the private health care sector is saying that we cannot help you if you do not have medical aid. Or you have to cough up the funds and pay it off for the rest of your life?

The system needs to be challenged, as we know that Medical Aid is very expensive, and takes a huge cost of living out of a person/family. We also know that not everyone has company benefits to have the company pay for their medical aid, as well as we know that not every single person is in hospital every month or year. The question is: What happens to the funds that medical aids are debiting without a client ever claiming?
