Money debited after cancellation
I cancelled my Health Insurance on 04 August, giving a month's notice (4 days short of a full month) as I have joined another Health Insurance from 01 September. I was told that they can not accept the notice as it was not a FULL month, so it would be cancelled on 4 September. I expected to be billed then for 4 days in September? They have now debited a full month on 1 September for September???? So I currently have 2 medical insurances as my new one starts on 01 September!!! In other words we need to basically give 2 months notice???? This has messed up my whole budget for September as I have now paid 2 different health insurances for September!!!! I would like my money for September to be refunded please!!!! This is money (R1500) that One plan are making for nothing as I will not be utilizing it anymore. I am not getting any joy with customer care as I was basically told that is how it is!!
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.
We would like to extend our apologies for any inconvenience and frustration you may have experienced. We take client feedback seriously and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of service.
Upon review of your complaint, we would like to clarify the following: on the policy schedule, under the heading of Cancellation, point number 2 states " Cancellation requests must be sent in writing to ***. There is a thirty-one (31) day (one calendar month) notice period for all cancellation requests."
In this case, the full calendar is September 2025, hence a debit has been processed for the month and no refund is due for the premium collected. Your policy is set to be cancelled as of 2025/10/01 in line with our terms and conditions. An SMS and email have been sent to the phone number and email address registered on the policy with confirmation of the cancellation and when the last debit would be processed for the premium.
Certain terms and conditions are always applicable, and these are included in all policy documents before and during your experience with us. We will assist with all we can in line with our terms and conditions
We are sad to see you go, but we do hope to have you part of the Oneplan family again.
Kind regards,
Oneplan.
