Increase before cover starts
I joined up with Oneplan Pet I surance which is supposed to start on 1 June, yet on the 31st of May I receive an email stating that premiums are increasing. How on earth can they increase my premium (supposedly an annual increase) before my cover has even started. I was not informed of any upcoming increases when signing up a few weeks ago. I agreed to the quote I was given. This was completely dishonest and very deceptive. Not a good start and makes me very wary of their practices.

31 May 2021, 14:07Good day Sharon,
We do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience which has been caused. We do have your fur-babies best interest at heart.
We have noted the concerns that you have raised relating to the increase in your premium, which is scheduled to take effect on 1 July 2021. There was no increase effected in March 2020, which usually is the case for annual increases. However, this was not done due to the financial uncer*****y created by the COVID pandemic.
Kindly note that the increase plays an important role to ensure that we continue to provide quality insurance to our fur-babies.
Whilst we understand that any increase is never well received, we firmly believe in being open and transparent with you and as such wanted to share the basis for our adjustments to your premium as of 1st July 2021 in the hope that this provides an understanding of our decision. Although there has been a slight increase in your premium kindly note that the benefits and cover limits have also increased. We have also added Post-Operative Care to our cover for your fur-babies to ensure they are well taken care of after an operation / procedure. This exciting new cover now includes alternative treatments, including but not limited to Hydro and/or Physiotherapy. We have also decreased the time frame on certain waiting periods to allow your fur-baby faster access to medical attention. This is just to name but a few of our added benefits that have come into place due to the increase in premium.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused, however please note this increase plays an important role to ensure that we continue to provide you with the quality you have come to expect.
Kind Regards,
Oneplan

31 May 2021, 14:27This did not address my actual concern at all. I do not want your copy paste answer, I want you to read and comprehend what I am saying. I understand the concept of an annual increase and am not disputing these. I am disputing that that MY premiums are to increase 1 month into my cover on 1 July. Of course I expect annual increase in a YEAR. Surely you can understand how this is unreasonable and ********* on your part. I was not informed of an upcoming increase within a month of start of cover when I accepted the quote for insurance.
