Huge Spike in Annual Increase-Becoming Unaffordable!!

I have both my Huskies on OnePlan since they were 6 months old. They are on the classic plan with the buster included. They are both turning 4 next year.

Every year there is an annual increase on my policy that normally go up with between R20 - R40 max. This year the annual increase jumped to R137!! When asked why it went up, the email stated the “current age and breed, expected further claims, how long I have been a client and previous claims”.

I told them that is ridiculous since this is the first in almost 4 years that the annual increase amount is so much!!

The insurance is becoming unaffordable especially in this time we are going through. Not sure if they want to make up for what they may have lost, but this is not working for me.

If the increase is so much this year what is it going to be next year? Shocking!!

Good day Werner,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with us. We appreciate your loyalty to the Oneplan fur-family over the past 3 years. We had chosen to hold off on any premium adjustments for as long as possible however we have experienced increased inflation in relation to claims across all our pet products and cannot avoid a necessary adjustment to policies.

Whilst we understand that any increase is never well received, we firmly believe in being open and transparent with you in the hope that this provides an understanding of our decision.

We love having your fur babies Raiden and Storm as part of the Oneplan family and would hate to see you go. We want to keep your paw buddy on board even in their golden years. However certain factors do come with increased risk hence the price increase. Please take note the risk loadings added to Raiden (Siberian Husky) and Storm (Siberian Husky) is due to their breed type and the claims ratio.

Kindly note an agent will be in contact with you regarding the cancelation for your fur-baby Storm.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused, however please note this increase plays an important role to ensure that we continue to provide you with the quality you have come to expect.

Kind Regards,
Oneplan

I understand an annual increase on the policy but 3 months after the increase the underwriter decided that all Large dogs is a risk factor as per the OnePlan consultant and the amount of times I make use of my policy?

Why is my dogs both on age 3 a risk factor? Discriminating against the breed I have to add up for the increase? That is horrible!! Not letting the client know that OnePlan decided to add pets on risk factors just because of there breed and use of the insurance.

So if you frequently make use of the insurance that counts as a risk? Is that not why you have a limit? Now my dog is a risk because the use of the insurance? Ridiculous!!

For this reasons I’ll cancel my insurance. This is a money making insurance, off all the insurance I never heard that because of the breed and the amount off times I use the insurance the insurance can increase a insurance twice a year.

Definitely do not recommend the service and the insurance.

Good day Werner,

We appreciate your interaction with us as we do take customer feedback seriously to improve our service and processes to ensure we meet our clients' expectations.

Our annual increase in March also includes increased cover limits on the plan. As per the communication sent out, the annual increase in March 2021 will in no way affect your monthly premium.

The risk loading that was added for December was a business decision as this increase plays an important role to ensure that we continue to provide quality insurance to our fur-babies.

We once again apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,
Oneplan
