DISCONNECED SERVICE

Where to start? My husband died on 19th May in Linksfield Hospital. I informed Oneplan. On 30th May I received an email from Oneplan stating that since my husband was the main member, my current policy will be cancelled and that they would open a new policy in my name AND WILL WAIVER ALL WAITING PERIODS. They could only give me new premium once a consultant phoned me. This never happened and by 4th June I felt uncomfortable about not having paid and didn't feel protected in the event of something happening to me. I had been sending querying emails since 31st May but only received generic responses and NOBODY called. I eventually emailed Ashlin Isaacs who is always willing and able to help. Ashlin initiated Lasty to call me which he persuaded me to switch to the Professional Plan, after telling me that should I wish to stay on the Executive the premium would only be R600 less. I couldn't believe that my husband's life was only worth a R600 deduction!

I provided Lasty with a letter from Discovery who covered me before and a debit mandate. Everything seemed settled. On the 5th, a young lady called Pascal phoned and threw a spanner in the works. She asked me if I wanted to stay on the Executive in my own name and that it would cost R900+. Obviously I was keen to stay on it and the rate seemed amazing. When I tokdvher about Lasty and the policy he was initiating, she told me that Lasty had emailed her to give me other options. She promised to send me an email explaining the benefits of 3 different policies. She adjrd "are we removing yiur husband?" To which i rep**** "well yes...he's dead". Shocking. To date I have heard nothing from her. Last night I got my Professional Plan policy and note that it is full of waiting periods which I was promised in writing would be wavered. New premium is only deductible on 1st July so I have no idea if I'm covered for this month.

To top it all I received an email on 5th stating my medical insurance has been canceled due to non payment!

I've never been so confused in my life at a devastating time. I expected you to have my back but there are so many email addresses and one hand has no clue that the other is doing. Before I accept this new Policy, I need to make sure you honor your word about waiving all waiting periods. I feel as if I've been penalized many times over for losing my husband and yet we have been with you for many years. I've resorted to this Complaint forum because I have no idea who to talk to anymore. Could someone just enlighten me.

Dear Lizzie,

Thank you for taking our call earlier and allowing us the opportunity to further discuss the matter at hand. We truly sympathize with the situation and are sorry to hear of the circumstances under which your Hellopeter posting has reached us. Our condolences to you and your family on the passing away of your husband. Please accept our deepest sympathies for all that you have experienced.

As per our telephonic conversation, kindly note that our Underwriting department reviews all new policies that are linked to a canceled policy and your new policy was within the list of policies that needed to be reviewed. We have since proceeded to send communication to your listed email address with the updated policy schedule that confirms that all waiting periods have been waived due to the previous policy you were covered on as there was no break in cover.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope the above brings clarity to the matter.

Kind Regards,
Oneplan
