Deceptive Billing Practices

I recently cancelled my OnePlan policy after discovering the company's deceptive and ********* billing practices. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this provider to anyone. Firstly, OnePlan fails to inform customers that they will be charged extra for a "Risk Profile" per cat. These amounts are conveniently omitted from all policy documents, keeping customers in the dark about what they're truly paying for. Secondly, the lack of transparency regarding individual pricing per cat is appalling. Customers have no idea what they are actually paying for each pet, as this information is not clearly provided. Thirdly, OnePlan charges an unexplained and unjustifiable "commission fee" of R100 per month. When questioned, not a single OnePlan representative could provide a clear explanation for this additional cost. Lastly, the company has the audacity to include a "third party" cost of R35 per month, further demonstrating their greedy and underhanded tactics. It is worth noting that NO OTHER provider in the industry engages in such deceptive and unclear billing practices. OnePlan's lack of transparency and ethical standards sets them apart for all the wrong reasons. If you value honesty, transparency, and fair business practices, I strongly urge you to stay away from OnePlan. Their ********* conduct and deceptive billing practices are a clear indication that they do not have their customers' best interests at heart. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment by choosing a provider that operates with integrity and transparency.

Dear Ruoall,

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

We sincerely apologize for the way you feel and for any inconvenience that has been caused. We do take customer feedback seriously to improve our service and process to ensure that we meet our client’s expectations.

On our website, we have a clear indication confirming that Premiums are risk profile-dependent. You may click on the following link https://www.oneplan.co.za/plans/PetPlans and scroll down to the bottom of the page to find this information.

Kindly note that clients are not kept in the dark about their premiums, the policy documents that are emailed to all our clients have a breakdown of the premium as we firmly believe in being open and transparent with all our clients.

It is prudent to note that Bryte Insurance Company Limited is the Insurer, as such they receive the risk premium and Oneplan receives commission up to the allowable amount as per legislation. The third-party fees are related to fees charged by our third-party provider for costs related to the use of the Onecard.

According to our policy documents under the heading “Remuneration, Fees and Commission,” it states that Oneplan Brokers (Pty) Ltd receives commission from the Insurer in terms of what is permissible by law in addition to any fees contracted directly with any client and agreed to in writing. Oneplan Underwriting Managers (Pty) Ltd collects an underwriting and administration fee for each policy sold on behalf of the Insurer. A breakdown of the premium can be found on the policy schedule. Included in the breakdown of the fees are the commission amounts, administration fees, third-party fees, and any other additional fees applicable to the policyholder.

Records on our system confirm that we received your cancelation request today the 03rd of May 2024. Kindly note that there is a one calendar month notice period for all cancellation requests and one of our consultants will be in contact with you to assist with your request.

Certain terms and conditions are always applicable, and these are included in all policy documents before and during your experience with us. The terms and conditions of the policy must be adhered to and app**** fairly for all clients. Please note we are governed by the FAIS Act and must apply the TCF policy to ensure all our clients receive fair service and cover.

We encourage all our clients and potential clients to ensure that they do understand all products available in the market and perhaps approach their Financial Advisor for a factual comparison of products as hearsay may cause a consumer to make a decision based on inaccurate information.  Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience caused and hope the above brings clarity to the matter.     Kind Regards, Oneplan
