Crying over cents

I have been a client of oneplan for a number of years now. This month the money that came into my account was a little late so the debit order did not go through. I then once I received the money into my account make a manual payment of R1200 into oneplan’s account. I could not remember that after the price increase the total amount for the month was R1200 and 63 cents. Now I get messages telling me if I do not pay in the 63 cents that they are going to suspend my policy due ro non payment.

I mean 63 cents? Out of R1200,63 I paid 99.99999% of the premium. Could they not have added the 63 cents to next months premium? I am getting more and more disappointed with the service I am getting from oneplan. There is ALWAYS something. The last time they suspended the account without informing me, because I forgot to send them the invoice for the claim. They sent me 1 message to remind me they are waiting for the invoice but NOTHING to say that the account is suspended. If they told me that then I would remember that I had to send them the invoice and not have me standing in fromt of the vet with a red face and having to urgently gather funds just be able to pay te vet where oneplan was supposed to have paid the account.

Can someone please tell me if 63 cents would have made this large insurance company now so much poorer that they would no longer be able to operate? Hell I think the bank costs and the costs of the messages etc would have cost them more than the 63 cents that they were crying about.

Dear one plan I have now paid you your 63 cents and I hope that you all are throwing a party now because you managed to get in this HUGE outstanding account’s balance. Congratulations. And please do not call me with any sad old apologie because those words means nothing to you. You probably say it 100 times a day over the phone “please accept our deepest and most sincere apologies. But do you actually mean it? Do you really feel sorry about having to apologize? Do you actually feel bad about the fact that your company has threatened to suspend someones account over mere cents even after him paying R1200 already? Where a simple personalized sms would have did the job by saying, thank you for the payment of R1200, however you paid 63 cents short but do not worry, we will add it to next months debit order. You know what. This time it’s me who says I am sorry without feeling and without meaning. Feel how it feels when someone gives you an empty apologie. Hope you have a wonderfull day now that you are able to pay Tom, **** and Harry’s salary now that you have the full 63 cents paid back to you. Oh and by the way your link in your sms that sends you to your paying platform? It DOES NOT work. Probably because my outstanding amount was so huge.

Good day Marcel,

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

We take customer feedback seriously to improve our service and process to ensure that we meet our client’s expectations.

Kindly note that should a client make a short payment via EFT towards their monthly premium, our system is designed in such a manner that communication will automatically be sent to the client with the outstanding amount. This is in place to ensure we close all gaps for our EFT-paying clients.

We do apologize that you received the SMS notification on such a small amount, however, the amount that populates in the communication is automated as the system picks up the amount.  We will be escalating this to the relevant department to review our SMS notification system and perhaps implement a restriction on the communication that is sent to our clients.  Should a client make a short EFT payment towards the monthly premium and the client's payment method is via debit order, we will attempt to debit the outstanding amount on the next debit order date, however, the SMS notification, just serves as a reminder to ensure clients are aware that the premium was short-paid.

We trust the above brings clarity on the matter.

Kind Regards,
Oneplan
