Be careful! Claims coming back as not valid for payment

We have 6 pets on OnePlan and pay well over R2k a month o. Recent changes in their policies have resulted in a lot of the benefits for care been slashed. All of sudden claims are coming back unpaid or not valid for refunds. I cancelled this month. Be careful out there...watch when they change benefits mid-year because they can't plan properly. Im off to Outsurance.

Good day Sean,

Thank you for taking the time to bring this to our attention.

We apologize for any inconvenience which has been caused and for the circumstances under which your Hellopeter posting has reached us. We do take customer feedback seriously to improve our service and process to ensure that we meet our client’s expectations as we do value you as our client.

The Oneplan brand inspires confidence in its ability to provide value for money. Regrettably we are from time to time pressed to increase our premiums to keep up with inflation and medical costs, which in turn enables us to be there for you and your pet when you need us the most.

Whilst we understand that any increase is never well received, we firmly believe in being open and transparent with you. Kindly note that there are certain factors that are taken into consideration such as the age and breed of your fur-baby. Pet breeds and species have differing lifespans and claiming patterns; this translates into increasing claims during certain periods of a pet's life.

Records on our system reflect that your fur-babies are on the Classic Plan which offers day-to-day and In-hospital benefits. The plan includes a Pet Med Savings benefit that may be used preventative care claims and has a cover limit of R750. Should clients request for more cover, they can choose to add on the Pet Med Booster. The Casualty benefit has a cover limit of R1300 and is limited to 4 Casualty benefits per a year. A vet consultation will fall under the Casualty benefit claim, and should the vet bill exceed R1300, unfortunately the client will be liable for the difference as claims are paid up to the respective cover limits. The Pet Med Savings and Casualty Benefit falls under our day-to day benefits and differentiates from the In-Hospital cover limits.

Kindly note that the most recent Pet Med Savings most claim was rejected as the annual cover limit was reached. There are annual cover limits on all our cover types. Once the annual cover limit has been exceeded, the cover limit benefit will renew on the anniversary of your policy.

Certain terms and conditions are always applicable, and these are included in all policy documents before and during your experience with us. The terms and conditions of the policy must be adhered to and app**** fairly for all clients, and we will assist with all we can in line with our terms and conditions. Please note we are governed by the FAIS Act and must apply the TCF policy to ensure all our clients receive fair service and cover.

It has been a pleasure providing your fur-babies with much needed health cover for the unexpected, expected and everything in between. We are sad to see you go, but we do hope to have you part of the Oneplan family again.

We once again apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,
Oneplan

Reviewer Update
I disagree. The most recent claim involved the vet addressing an infection in the anal glands and dispensing a handful of antibiotics. My boy has to go back in a few days for a checkup. Thats not day-to-day care. As I said, watch out people....they offer the world to sign you up and then when you claim there is a whole lot of side stepping and pages and pages of terms and conditions being presented.

Good day Sean,

Thank you for taking our call earlier and allowing us the opportunity to further discuss the matter at hand.

As per out telephonic conversation, kindly note that the Pet Med Savings benefit may be used towards preventative care claims for your insured pet which includes, anal gland expression. According to our policy schedule under Pet Med Savings  (point 3.2) it states Pet Med Savings  means access to a savings wallet that may be used towards preventative care claims for your insured pet and includes, voluntary sterilisation, vaccinations, deworming, tick and flea control, and anal gland expression, dental scaling and polishing and nail clipping, chronic medication, hydro- and physiotherapy.

The Pet Med Savings wallet provides cover for each insured pet, up to the maximum cover limit at any time and renews every twelve (12) months from inception of your policy. The cover limit can be used for multiple events until the limit has been reached within the twelve (12) months. This is one of the many benefits and cover limits that our Pet Plans have to offer as the pet med savings benefit is a day-to-day benefit. There are annual cover limits on all our cover types which are renewed on the anniversary of your policy.

The terms and conditions is included in all policy documents before and during your experience with us and must be adhered to and app**** fairly for all clients. We will assist with all we can in line with our terms and conditions. Please note we are governed by the FAIS Act and must apply the TCF policy to ensure all our clients receive fair service and cover.

We once again apologize for any inconvenience caused.
