A Service In Drastic Decline!

I have been a Oneplan Medical inusrance client for over a decade, first as a dependant and then as an adult. I even had my baby on Oneplan. What used to be a convenient alternative to medical aid has become a tedious and somewhat pricey commitment.

It used to be that you could go to the doctor and just swipe your onecard and you would only have to send a detailed invoice and POP if you had withdrawn the money. Now, you have to send them those docs no matter what, this is extra admin while you or a loved one is ill.

They used to accept hand written invoices and receipts but they no longer do. Mind you some of our doctors are old and when there's loadshedding it's easier to get a handwritten doc than having to wait until power returns because Oneplan will block your day to day until you provide those documents. I missed this change and they had me go back to the doctor to get a typed version when in the past they would call the practise themselves to verify. I pay more annually but their agents are expected to do less and less work while I run around doing admin I didn't initially sign up for.

In the past, if your consultation was cheaper than what you are covered for, you used to be able take the change and top up your scripted medication cover if necessary. You can no longer do that, they will call you and ask you to refund that money. Please bear in mind that I am on the executive plan which is their highest cover but I more often than not have to top up scripted and visits with my own money.

I am currently shopping for other options because the selling points were affordability and convenience and those are withering away.

Dear Sisekho,

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and for being a loyal Oneplan client. We truly value your long-term commitment and understand your concerns regarding recent changes to claims processing.

We’d like to clarify a few important points regarding claims:
  1. Invoice requirements – For claims to be processed, we only accept computer-generated or printed invoices. Handwritten invoices or receipts are no longer accepted due to business changes and the ***** experience we've had. An example of a detailed invoice can be found in your policy schedule. It is the client’s responsibility to provide the correct documentation when submitting a claim.
  2. Each benefit in your plan has specific cover limits. Funds allocated for one benefit cannot be used to cover another. If a payment is app**** incorrectly, the claim will be rejected, and you will need to refund the funds in order to recover the claim.
  3. All our benefits have applicable cover limits and they are outlined in details in the policy schedule. If the cost of a service exceeds your plan’s cover, it is the client’s responsibility to cover any shortfall.

We understand that these updates may feel like additional administration, especially during times of illness, and we appreciate how this can impact convenience. The changes are intended to ensure accurate claims processing and compliance with policy rules, which ultimately helps us maintain the integrity of your plan and the benefits it provides.

Certain terms and conditions are always applicable, and these are included in all policy documents before and during your experience with us. We will assist with all we can in line with our terms and conditions. Oneplan subscribes to its TCF principles and will take all reasonable steps to ensure fair and equal treatment of all our clients.

We trust that this clarifies the matter at hand.

Kind regards,
Oneplan.
