Misleading
1% chance of actually getting a true saving on their platform, majority of the time they inflate retails to mislead customers. Today the adverti*****t in question promotes the Ecozy 24-cube self-cleaning ice maker, stating its retail value as R6500.
This claim is misleading as the same product is only available on another prominent online platform, Takealot, for only R4229. This inflated retail value appears to be used to create an illusion of greater savings, thereby potentially misleading customers to drive sales.
Second adverti*****t in question is the AENO eco smart heater being sold for R3999, however Romtech is selling the exact same product for R3749 with free shipping. Clearly not the cheapest in the market as they claim to be.
In my view it is in violation of the ASASA advertising code which state: Misleading Claims: Adverti*****ts should not contain any statement or visual presentation which, directly or by implication, omission, ambiguity, or exaggeration, is likely to mislead the consumer.
