unaccepatble delay in finalising claim

Good Afternoon

I am writing to express my dismay at the length of time it is taking to finalise a claim against King Price which was repudiated. it is now 7 months later and the claim is not yet finalised. I had appealed the fist outcome and the claim is now with a senior assistant ombudsman. should this matter not receive priority instead of new matters being dealt with first. Kindly advise.

Hello priyaprakasim,

Our records reflect that this matter was already considered and as stated by you, is now being re-considered as per your request.

We also note that, as you have been advised, further information was requested from the insurer.

You also made your request to also make your own additional representations, the last of which was only on the 6th of January 2016.

You were advised on the 13th January 2016 that the matter will now be considered, together with the additional information and representations from the insurer and yourself. A determination will be made and communicated to you in due course.

It therefore does not appear that there was anything which could have been done to expedite the matter, under the circumstances.

It is also important to point out that your matter is being treated like any other, and that there is no justification to prioritize it.

You will hear from our office in due course (not expected to be more than 14 days).

We trust that you will find the above in order.

Yours faithfully

Peter Nkhuna
Senior Assistant Ombudsman
