I sent a complaint to the Ombud on the 21st November 2023 regarding a claim rejection by Budget Insurance (TIH). From that time until the 9th of September 2024 when the Ombud issued a ruling, there had been no phone calls from the Ombud with updates, no proactive mails, no updates on the portal, if you don't call them, nothing is said or done. In the insurer's last submission to the Ombud, they completely abandon the accident reconstruction report used as a basis to reject my claim and allegations mounted against me, the insurer mounts brand new allegations, the Ombud quoted this last response as the basis to uphold the rejection and said very clearly that even if I came with new facts that contradict the insurer's last submission, there's nothing they can do about it. They've recommended that I take the matter to court, which means dedicating another year of my life to an accident that happened in 2023, paying for legal fees, paying for an opposing accident reconstruction specialist and taking time off work to prep for the hearings. The Ombud's conduct is laughable in my case. They deserve every single bad review they have in my opinion, if I'd known, I would've gone straight through litigation and not wasted 11 months hoping that the Ombud does what they say they do.
