Standard bank insurance and the ombud
I have been battling for 7 months to get my insurance claim honored by standard insurance. They claimed my policy was conveniently cancelled 3 days prior to my claim. This was hogwash as it forms part of my bond payment. I thought i would try the Ombudsman to help but unfortunately they are in cahoots with each other and it is a complete failure to try that route.
The poor souls cannot read what is said as the complaint and make up their own version. All standard can do is say send me your ID so we can look into the matter. standard had months to do their work and failed miserably.

Our office is an independent alternative dispute resolution scheme, and as such, is not in "cahoots" with any insurer. If this is your strong belief, then we cannot properly adjudicate your dispute because you will not likely accept our recommendation/finding in the event that it is not in your favour and another forum may be more suitable.
OSTI is independent and impartial. This means that it is neither a consumer champion nor an industry trade-body. If we believe that the insurer has made a mistake, or that your issue was unfairly handled by the insurer, we will say so. If, however, we do not find fault with the way in which the insurer has dealt with your matter, we will find in favour of the insurer. In terms of our approach, we consider the facts of your matter and make a decision based on the law and, where appropriate, on considerations of fairness and equity.
If you wish to pursue this matter in our Office, please provide me your OSTI file refence number so that I may look into the status of your complaint, and provide feedback.
Yours faithfully,
