Short Term Insurance Ombudsman yet another sheltered employment agency for *********** people
I recently put in a 3rd party claim on my insurance (Alex Forbes) and the claim was rejected with a nonsensical reason. I took the matter to the OSTI (office of the short term insurance ombudsman). After a couple weeks they got back to me and I supp**** more information to assist them. A few more weeks and they said they had sent me a letter regarding my case and gave me me week to respond. I was on leave for 2 weeks so did not see their mail, and in any case the letter they claimed to have sent me I could not find in my mail. I requested they re-send the letter 3 times with zero feedback. Also you will find trying to phone in is as useless as going to Home Affairs. Why bother having yet another public serving agency manned by *********** staff who do anything BUT look after consumers who have been **********? Atrocious "service" where the cadres employed have no desire to assist consumers. Shameful as have lodged cases with them twice now over the years for cases where Insurance companies clearly use their corporate muscle to cheat their way out of paying a relatively small claim.
Concerning your previous cases, we advise that each matter is dealt with according to the merits and the evidence provided. If your insurer's decision was upheld, it is because it was substantiated.
