Never trust OMBUDSMAN , THESE OFFICES ARE USELESS AND WAISTE OF TIME
Ombuds will always protect insurance companies, At the claim stage with old mutual home insurance they gave me their terms and conditions which i did not get them before and they rejected the claim, i took the case to ombudsman , instead of hearing both side they decided to be on Old Mutual side, not the first time i lodge the claim with them even with Momentum they did the same while they said they made mistake on my policy document by writing they will cover that illness

When deciding on a complaint, OSTI will always consider all the relevant facts and arguments. The outcome will be based on the version of events that seems more likely or probable. This is called deciding on a “balance of probability” and refers to the standard test to be used when deciding civil (as opposed to ********) disputes.
OSTI is independent and impartial. This means that it is neither a consumer champion nor an industry trade-body. If we believe that the insurer has made a mistake, or that your issue was unfairly handled by the insurer, we will say so. If, however, we do not find fault with the way in which the insurer has dealt with your matter, we will find in favour of the insurer. Our approach to a matter is much the same as that of a judge in court – we consider the facts of your matter and make a decision based on the law and, where appropriate, on considerations of fairness and equity.
