Very Disappointing Customer Experience

I purchased a Ford Ranger from Omar Car Dealership in January 2024, and unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. The vehicle had a cracked windscreen and a strong smoky smell, and although the dealership promised to cover the costs of resolving these issues, I eventually had to pay for them myself. The vehicle was also supp**** without a jack and wheel-removal key/tool. Despite repeatedly requesting these items, I have been passed from one person to another without a resolution. I was initially promised that the items would be obtained from Witbank, but my calls were eventually ignored. I was later told that the dealership would not assist because the vehicle was purchased two years ago, despite the fact that I had been raising the matter and trying to obtain assistance. I also experienced significant delays in receiving the documents required to register the vehicle. Overall, my concern is not only about the missing items but the poor communication, lack of accountability, failure to honour commitments, and disappointing customer service. I am sharing my experience to help prospective customers make an informed decision. I sincerely hope the dealership takes customer complaints more seriously and improves its after-sales service.

Thank you for raising your concerns.
We have reviewed our records relating to this vehicle. The Ford Ranger was purchased from Omar’s Motor Den on 5 January 2024, and at the time of sale the vehicle had approximatley 13000 kilos and has a warranty and service plan with agents.
You mention a cracked windscreen, a smoky smell and a missing wheel-removal key — 2 years later who did you raise these concerns with .
We are also concerned by the suggestion that the dealership was unwilling to assist.

We remain willing to assist the customer in having the concerns properly assessed.

Dear Mr Yusuf,
Thank you for your response.
I appreciate your willingness to assist. However, I would like to clarify that these matters are not being raised for the first time after two years, as your response appears to suggest.
At the time of purchasing the Ford Ranger on 5 January 2024, I immediately raised the issues regarding the cracked windscreen and the smoky smell with the salesperson who assisted me, Mr Zubir. I was advised to take the vehicle to Valley for cleaning and was assured that the dealership would cover the cost. I was also advised to have the windscreen replaced, with the dealership undertaking to cover the cost.
Unfortunately, these commitments were not fulfilled, and after waiting for the dealership to assist, I eventually had to pay for the necessary work myself.
Regarding the missing wheel-removal key and jack, I have also raised this matter with the dealership on several occasions. I was referred to Adida, who advised me that he would obtain the items from Witbank. I subsequently followed up several times, but he stopped responding to my calls. I was then referred to another person, Captain, who informed me that the dealership would not assist because the vehicle was purchased two years ago.
It is therefore incorrect to suggest that I simply waited for two years before raising these concerns. I have made several attempts to resolve the matter directly with the dealership, but unfortunately I have not received a satisfactory resolution.
I also acknowledge your statement that the vehicle has a warranty and service plan with the agents. However, my complaint relates specifically to commitments made by the dealership at the time of sale and the missing jack and wheel-removal key/tool, which were not provided with the vehicle. I therefore believe these matters should be addressed separately from the vehicle's warranty and service plan.
I welcome your statement that you are willing to assist. To move the matter forward, please confirm in writing:
  1. When and how the missing jack and wheel-removal key/tool will be provided.
  2. How the dealership intends to address the commitments made regarding the windscreen and vehicle cleaning.
  3. Whether the dealership is prepared to consider reimbur*****t for the expenses I incurred after the agreed work was not attended to.
  4. Who will be my designated contact person going forward so that I am not repeatedly referred from one person to another.
I am willing to provide any supporting documentation and correspondence available to me. My intention is not to create unnecessary conflict, but simply to have the outstanding matters resolved fairly and appropriately. I look forward to receiving your response and a clear proposed way forward.

Good afternoon Mr Yusuf,
I am following up on the outstanding matters regarding my Ford Ranger. As requested, I furnished you with all the relevant information and supporting documents relating to the missing jack and wheel-removal key/tool, windscreen replacement, vehicle cleaning, and reimbur*****t for the expenses incurred.
You had indicated that you would review the matter and provide me with a response by 21 August 2026. However, I have not received any feedback to date, and my recent attempts to contact you by phone have unfortunately gone unanswered.
I have been patient and have made every effort to resolve this matter directly with Omar’s Motor Den. I would therefore appreciate a clear written response on the outcome of your review and the proposed way forward.
Please note that I would prefer to resolve this matter amicably. However, if I do not receive a response within a reasonable timeframe, I will have no option but to proceed with my complaint through MIOSA, as I have already made several attempts to resolve the matter directly with the dealership.
I look forward to your urgent response.
Kind regards,
Sthembile Madonsela
