Save your money and time - Olive & Oil is just a disappointment

My wife and I recently went on vacation to Umhlanga in KZN. We loved everything about Umhlanga except for this restaurant called Olive & Oil. Goodness, the most ********** experience we've ever had a restaurant. I don't even know what to cover here...

We arrived there with my wife- having made a reservation and we were allocated a table. We sat down and 10-15 minutes passed without any waiter/waitress attending to us to hear if we would like something to drink while we peruse over the menu. Eventually, a waitress came. She took our order and the first thing we wanted to order were oysters - because we believed they would have the best oysters we'd ever taste, seeing that it's a restaurant in the COASTAL AREA and all. Boy, were we in for a surprise.

First of all, the lady puts in our order, 40min pass without our oysters coming (a starter). We asked her how long it takes to get the oysters ready, she goes to the kitchen (another smooth 15min pass) and comes back to tell us that the oysters were frozen because people hardly order them. First red flag 🚩. Okay... we wait for them. They eventually arrive after another 15min have passed and guess what? The oysters do not look remotely fresh, the order itself is not what was advertised on the menu and they taste terrible. The manager came to us (I assumed the gentleman is a manager) and asks us what was wrong - he could clearly read our faces because of how unimpressed we were.

We tell him that the menu says the oysters came with pink pepper and there is no pink pepper on the oysters. He goes to the kitchen comes back and tells us that pink pepper is just a flower on the oysters. I show him on my phone what pink pepper is and he looked bemused. As if it was the first time he saw what pink pepper was. He then tells us they don't have pink pepper. What? Okay. Fine. We then put in our orders for main meals and we are told that the kitchen is closed for orders but they'll make an exception for us. What?! We place our orders and proceed to ask for a bottle of bubbly to enjoy our meal with and the lady comes back and tells us that the bar is also closed - by the way, this is around 20:15 when we are told this. They saw how angry we were and then decided to make another "exception." The bubbly comes along with our food.

My wife's order was beyond terrible. She could not even eat anything on her plate and we had to share my food.

I am absolutely appalled by the service we received at this restaurant and vow to never set foot there again when I visit Umhlanga.
