We Won't Take Your Money But You Must Pay

Good day, I would like to lodge a complaint on how poorly my account has been handled since inception. When I opened my account I was told that I would need to pay my first instalment in cash at the store, thereafter, my debit order would initiate. I made my initial payment however, in the following month my account was not debited. I then started receiving calls from the store and from the Rainbow Finance office in Durban requesting me to make a payment -which I did eventually do despite the contradicting and questionable information I received from the coloured lady who called me (I think her name is Michelle). I was told by Nontobeko from Edendale branch in Pietermaritzburg that the Rainbow finance people clearly lost my banking details or failed to load the debit order properly. The lady at Rainbow finance in Durban told me that Nontobeko had not submitted my banking details and debit order authority form.

When I went to the store I made payment for the overdue amount as well as the current month (as a sign of good faith and being a responsible customer). I asked the ladies to please ensure that the debit order fro the current month does not go off as I had made a cash payment before my debit order date. I even queried how the refund process works should my account be debited. The short lady who receives payments in Edendale told me that it takes up to 7 days to process a refund which Nontobeko told me would not be an issue for me as there was no debit order loaded on the system for me -therefore I will not be debited.

About 2 days later, my account was debited the current month's instalment. I called Nontobeko from Edendale branch and queried this with her. I told her that I would like for her to please process a refund since I had now been debited unnecessarily. She told me that I should reverse it with my bank, which I refused as I had believed that this would attract a cost to me from the bank. She told me that she would investigate and call me back. Two days later I had not received a call from her. I then called her back at which stage she instructed me to reverse the debit order with my bank -this would not be a problem. I insisted to her that I was not comfortable with this approach but I eventually went ahead with it after I called my bank.

The following month I realised that again I had not been debited. Coincidently, I bumped into her in the parking lot at Greater Edendale Mall and explained my problem to her. She again said she would investigate and revert back -I am still waiting to this day (17/01/2018). Since then, I have received a call from a Mrs Moodley at Rainbow finance threatening legal action against me. When I asked for assurance that the issue will not repeat itself -she is unable to give that to me. She was also asked me for confirmation of my banking details and to sign the same set of forms for the third time now! To this stage I have refused to go to the branch and sign such forms because this is grossly unprofessional and inconvenient for me as a customer. I have said on numerous occasions that I am happy to do this over email but OK/ Rainbow Finance insist that I come to the store which in really inconvenient since I am not at fault.

Today I received a call from some Marius character who is apparently appointed by OK/ Rainbow finance to do a collection on my account. He basically called me deaf and stupid and shouted demands at me as if I am some kind of ********* and *****! I never at any stage refused to pay yet now I am being treated in this matter. I still even take calls from OK and engage on the matter hoping to get a workable solution to the matter. It is thank to the call that I received today that I now have absolutely no intention to support OK Furniture or ever even recommend them -albeit a drop in the ocean for such a large organisation.

Threats from Mrs Moodley at Rainbow finance to "Take back the furniture that I am not entitled to" and Marius' intimation that a customer of OK Furniture/ Rainbow is "deaf & stupid" are surely not the manner in which you conduct your business. However, if it is then I am happy that we discuss terms of terminating our contract and we never have to cross paths again.

I would appreciate a call from someone in your company to discuss the above to get to a resolution without having to exchange insults and unwarranted insinuations.
