DAMAGED TV - OK Malmesbury (According to them its my fault)
On the 1st of February 2019, I purchased a SAMSUNG 49 INCH TV at OK Furniture store in Malmesbury. This is my first TV, first furniture store purchase and first terrible experience ever. Two men were assisting with the testing to ensure everything is in order and Elize Smit was present as well (store clerk). The TV was brought to the front and they opened the box and pulled out the TV. Me not knowing at the time what the procedure is regarding the TV I let them continue. The one was holding the TV up straight while the other switched on the TV. The TV was clear, and I signed the confirmation forms to confirm that everything is in order. The TV was put in the box again. I left the TV at the store I was went looking for transport. Got back to the store in +- an hour. I did not look in the box again when I got back to the Store and then loaded the TV into the vehicle. When I got home, my friend and I took the tv out of the box, the stryfoam, plastic bags and remote and cables were still in the box. We placed the TV on the table and on the TV screen there was a TV QUICK SETUP GUIDE to take you through the setup process. The TV was laid face down on the table and my friend was putting the pedestal feet on. We left the TV up to stand up straight and switched it on, just to realize the TV had a horizontal line 3 centimetres away from the frame of the TV. Immediately I contacted the store and spoke to Annelize (salesperson), told her about the crack and how could this have happened if I followed the instructions. I told her this can mostly likely be the way the TV was handled at the Store that caused this. I asked what my options are, but she rather told me that my warranty, guarantee is expired due to the crack. I lost my mind… owing so much for a TV that is damaged not by myself and on top of it my guarantee is expired. I told her that I need to rethink my every move cause now she makes me believe that it is my fault. On the 2nd of February i went back to the store to speak to Annelize but she refers me to Elize Smit. Elize said that there is nothing that they can do. I received absolutely no assistance at all. And on top of it they ignored me and continued to work. I left the Store not just disappointed but also with the bad customer service I received from the staff at OK. This was my first purchase I made at a furniture store and it really put a damper on my mood from ever purchasing at a OK store again. I work with customers every day and never in my life do I not go the extra mile for them. On the 4th of February 2019 I called the Regional Manager Patrick Reith, his tone of voice was unprofessional whilst speaking to me. He basically told me that it cannot be one of their workers that damaged the TV as they do this daily. I then called the Head office in Johannesburg asking them for assistance in this matter. They said they will contact the Malmesbury branch and provide feedback thereafter. One of the ladies from Malmesbury branch then contacted me to ask if an assessment can be done. They never came to do the assessment. The only time they contacted me was for the payment that was due. I then said that I will not be making payment due to the assessment not been done. Up until today I am still awaiting feedback.
I received an email 23/07/2019 between Mararet Wilby & Christo Geyer, saying that they do not have packaging footage due to not having cameras in the store.
I will be waiting on further correspondence regarding this matter.
