Very Disappointing Service Experience

I am extremely disappointed with the service received at OK Minimark in Onrus this past weekend. My daughter forgot to pack a towel for our trip, so she went to the store to purchase one. The towel was clearly priced at R99 on the shelf. However, when she went to the till, she was told the price was actually R199. When she questioned this, the cashier could not identify any towel that matched the R99 price and called the supervisor. The supervisor then informed us that none of the towels were R99 and that they were all R199, adding that it was a mistake made by the persons responsible for unpacking the stock and that it was “not the store’s fault” and there was nothing they could do. Although she apologized verbally, her attitude and tone were dismissive and unhelpful. We then requested to speak to the manager. After waiting, the supervisor returned and advised that the manager said there was still nothing they could do to honour the displayed price. I explained that this is not in line with the Consumer Protection Act, which requires stores to honour the price displayed to customers, especially when the error is on the store’s side. Unfortunately, this did not seem to concern them. Mistakes happen, and we would have understood if the situation had been handled professionally and with better customer care. Instead, we were met with poor attitude, no accountability, and no willingness to resolve a very simple issue. Extremely disappointing experience. A little customer service would have gone a long way.
