Poor customer service
This complaint relates to OK minimark Letsitela Junction.
It's a very clean shop and convenient. However, the staff's treatment towards African is something else.
My first bad experience was about 3 weeks ago. The teller assisted a white person, she seemed very friendly. She greeted the woman nicely and packed the groceries. When I approached there was no greeting so I greeted her. I asked for plastic bags, she literally threw the bags on the groceries and stepped back. I just stood there and said nothing. While the other teller next to her was packing groceries for a white man. Eventually my partner came and packed up the groceries.
Yesterday I went again, went to order fried chips and again, the guy just gave this bored look. I asked for Jumbo chips and he just said "we don't have big containers". I ask what do they do in such instances and the reply I got was "I don't know". I then settled for medium size. While waiting a white lady came. It was like he was a different person. He nicely approached her and said "good afternoon Ma'am. How can I help?
I was soo disgusted by this behaviour. Another African man came and literally had to shout just to get attention.
OK Franchise has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to victimization in our retail stores. As our national constitution outlines principles of non-racialism, non-***ism and equality before the law, we therefore strive to ensure that the staff in all our stores conducts themselves accordingly at all times.
This unfortunate incident at OK MINIMARK LETSITELE is receiving our urgent attention on the highest level and corrective action will be taken where needed, after concluding our investigation.
We want to assure all our customers and staff that we take this matter very seriously and that we have stringent regulations in place to prevent any recurrences in our stores.
