My name has been tarnished by Octogen Debt Counsellors

In 2011 I went to Old Mutual for debt consolidation and was helped by a white lady it's a pity i don't remember the names, who told me after checking my documents that I don't qualify but said she could refer to another place where I can get help. She then gave me the address of another Old Mutual at another place in the city,so I went there the following day.

When I got there i was welcomed by a white male who seemed to know why I was there. He then told me about debt counselling and how it will help me with all my debts. He then produce some forms that I signed and after checking everything even my monthly expenses, advised me tp change my bank account as some creditors even though them debt counsellors have spoken to them, will continue to deduct from my account. And to come back with a new bank account so that we can proceed further. So I went to open a new account at another bank. But before I went back to the debt counsellor I met someone who after I told her about all these, advised me not to continue with the debt counsellor as they are not reliable but to talk directly to my debtors and plead with them to deduct a lesser amount.

So I didn't go back to debt counsellor anymore nor contacted him as I didn't even had his contacts but talked with my creditors and they all agreed to deduct lesser amount.By then I had about 9 credits and by now I managed to settle 5 of them and almost done with the remaining 4.

Then after a month since the debt counsellor he sent me a message on my phone that i owe him and I ignored the messages since he did nothing for me.He kept on sending messages and I kept ignoring them until he couldn't send anymore. Then to my surprise this year in October when I app**** for a car, they said my application was not successful as I'm under debt review.

So can Hellopeter please help me as to what to do in this situation because I also have to buy a house in the near future
