In the year 2013 I visited an old mutual branch in order to get assistance with consolidating my debts. Old mutual offered me a loan of R10 000 whereas I had accumulated debts which amounted to R75 000, which I did not accept. The following day I received a call from hyphen octogen where they informed me that they have received my application for consolidation. They then informed me that they can help. They told me to come to their offices which are located in field street. I visited their offices with my payslip, ID and proof of residence, they explained to me the processes and procedures. They stated that they can consolidate all my debts, that I cannot open any account during the consolidation, finally we cane to an agreement of an installment of R2200 for a period of two years. They then gave me a long document to sign, where they told me that its just paperwork confirming what they told me verbally. According to what was explained to me, the agreement was supposed to be completed by December 2015. When I went to check that indeed December was my last installment, I found out that agreement or contract instead being for two years, it was actually a contract of five years.
