DebiCheck Registration Fee Linked to Loan Application – Serious Disclosure Concerns

I am posting this review in the public interest.

A DebiCheck mandate for R250.00 was processed under the name “NCQWIEKFIN” in connection with what appeared to be a loan application process linked to Qwiekfin. The amount was later refunded, but the underlying concern remains.

The issue is not the refund. The issue is disclosure and consumer understanding.

The mandate related to a so-called “registration fee” and subscription service. However, the overall journey created the impression that one was applying for credit — not signing up for a paid directory or facilitation service. For financially distressed individuals actively seeking loans, that distinction is critical.

DebiCheck confirms authentication of a mandate. It does not confirm that consent was informed, fairly presented, or free from potentially misleading context. When fees are embedded within what appears to be a loan application flow, consumers may not fully appreciate that they are paying for access rather than receiving credit.

A review of other complaints on this platform suggests similar patterns of confusion and difficulty cancelling. While each case may differ, the recurring themes are concerning.

Consumers seeking loans are often in vulnerable financial positions. Business models operating in that environment carry a heightened responsibility to ensure that fees, subscriptions, and the true nature of the service are clearly and prominently disclosed.

I encourage anyone engaging with such services to read all terms carefully, verify exactly what is being purchased, and confirm whether a fee relates to actual credit provision or merely access to a database or referral platform.

This review is intended to promote transparency and consumer awareness.

Good day Taswell,

 Thank you for your feedback.

All DebiCheck transaction mandates that are authenticated by consumers should be explained in detail by the service provider and be accompanied by a mandate which explains what they are being debited for. Altron FinTech believes in transparency and take debit order abuse seriously. If any mandate is flagged, we have a dedicated team who conduct investigations regarding the mandate in question.  We subscribe to ethical business practices and all merchants that make use of our solutions that are found to be conducting ********* activities will be exited.  It is however important to note that DebiCheck transactions are authenticated by the consumer for debits to their accounts and we expect that no consumer would authenticate through their bank a transaction that will process without knowing what they have agreed to.

Your matter was escalated to Qwiekfin who presented a mandate to us which was concluded with you through their systems.  They assured us that they have resolved the matter with you and taken the required actions to solve the issue.  We trust that this has happened and that you will ensure you only authorise transactions which you intend to.

Regards,
The NuPay Team

Reviewer Update
@NuPay Team, are you aware of the business registration details of Qwiekfin?

If you're not, that in itself is negligent - but to help you be informed I can let you that they are listed as deregistered!

How is it possible that you engage in a business that's deregistered and allow them to issue debicheck mandate?
