I received a SMS on the 26 July 2024 that my account at Vodacom was in arears. Trying to send a WhatsApp or call the number in the sms without success. CREDIT ALERT: Your Vodacom account is with Norton Lambrianos Attorneys to proceed with legal collection. Please call us urgently on Tell: ***, Email:***, WhatsApp: ***. ***

Before I could try the next morning I received another sms that I could receive a 20% discount: KIRSTEN, 20% settlement discount offer on your Vodacom account payable as a once off. Contact us on ***/WhatsApp ***.***

Spoke to Ms Khan and made an immediate payment. Promised that I will receive an email that I do not own anything and that my account will reflect a zero. Phoned again and spoke to a man, Ms Khan was not available. Got busy and sent email to Ms Khan that it is after all only a spam - no response!! Went to Vodacom whom confirmed that the account was not handed over, but made a full payment and received immediately that the contract was cancelled.

After receiving another sms with a different reference number VP005221 spoke to a lady whom confirmed that the discount payment is reflecting on their system and I do not have to worry. With the same refence number receiving an sms that my Truworths account is arears and should make an arrangement for payment. Never had a Truworths account, which was confirmed by Truworths.

30 September 2024, receive another sms: make a minimum payment of R TODAY towards your Vodacom account to get your ITC profile updated for the month September. Called immediately again and spoke to a very patient lady in spite of my furious agitation. Ms Khan not available but will call me back. To date "NO RSPONSE".

What happened to my payment on 26 July? Why was the money not paid over to Vodacom. Since it was confirmed that the payment reflect on the system, why change the reference number with new threatening sms's while Vodacom account is not in arears?
