Xtrail- Fire in Interior light compartment - Is there a safety Concern with all Xtrail vehicles?
Two months ago, the interior light of my Nissan Xtrail (2018 model) stopped working. The vehicle is still under warranty, and thus I took the vehicle to my closest dealer to assess reasons for the light not working. I was made aware that there was a fire in the interior light and that the part needed replacing. This was due to a defect in the wiring. The dealership noted that I was extremely fortunate that more of the velt didn't catch fire, as the fire was directly above the drivers seat and passenger seat.
The dealership lodged a warranty claim for this part. Nissan then assessed the vehicle and agreed with the dealership findings (this took a month) that there was a fire in the interior light compartment. A new part was ordered, which I was told would take a month. However when I took my vehicle in this past week (21 April), I was told that Nissan ordered the wrong part and that I would need to wait another month for this part.
Each time I try to contact the Nissan Warranty team to discuss this issue, I am told they will call me back. However I still haven’t been called. Nissan themselves also haven’t called me to allay my concerns that I (or anybody driving with me) could have been in a life threatening situation, due to the fire in my vehicle while driving.
This has been incredibly frustrating and it is of great concern that there may be another life threatening issue with my car (AND OTHER XTRAIL MODELS). Additionally, why do I need to take ubers and use my own funds to get lifts to and from the dealership? I have now had to take the vehicle in 5 times due to this issue in the past 2 months.
How is Nissan not taking a fire in the car seriously??
(Unsurprisingly) I'm still waiting for feedback ??
