USELESS WARRANTY AND POOR QUALITY EXPENSIVE PARTS

My wife drives a 2016 Nissan Juke 1.5DCI. On 29300km she drove on the highway when she noticed the engine light and shift indicator are flashing. That same day we took the car into CMH Nissan Midrand. It was close to the 30000km service so we said they should service the car and resolve the malfunction. With that since the day we got the car the steering wheel cover was loose and vibrated all the time so they had to fix that as well.

We received the car back and they reset the ECU so the engine light and shift indicator lights was resolved. The steering wheel cover was not fixed. The service book was not stamped and the service indicator was set to 30000km.

At around 31000km the stop/start began to malfunction. So, we didn't had time to took in the car we drove it as is as we don't use the stop/start. One morning we tried to start the car and the battery was completely dead after standing for about 3 days. The car doesn't have a tracker to drain the battery.

I took the car in today to resolve the following:

Battery issue
Steering wheel cover

Stop/start malfunction

Service book stamp

Service indicator correction

CMH Nissan called me to say there will be R930 that I need to pay for a new battery as the warranty only cover 50%. So, I discussed this with the service manager and according to him they cannot do anything about it as it is the T&C of Nissan SA. I think it is ridiculous to only have a 1 year warrant on a battery as most aftermarket batteries have a 24month warranty. Even if I buy a battery through Nissan for R1860 I will only get a 12 month warranty on the battery. I can go and buy a aftermarket battery for R1300 with a 24 month warranty. According to me the OEM battery is of **** quality to only last just over a year.

So, first point, Nissan SA doesn't have confidence in their own products to apply a 24 month warrant on the product as aftermarket companies does. I can clearly see why Nissan doesn't put a 24 month warranty on the battery as it is POOR QUALITY and Nissan knows it.

Point two, the R1860 for a battery is ridicilious!

Point three, CMH Midrand didn't do any effort to try and take the case further.

I am giving Nissan SA a fair chance to rectify the issue before I take the case further.

Good day Wentzel,

Thank you for your comments and the content is duly noted.

As discussed the battery warranty on your vehicle will cover 50 percent of the costs towards the replacement. This information is also available in your Warranty and Information booklet. A clear explanation is provided in terms of the Battery Warranty on page W-9.

Kind regards
