The severe emotional distress and financial harm resulting from Nissan's actions.
My sister Miss Yeki purchased a vehicle from Nissan Port Elizabeth in July 2023 that exhibited multiple defects from the outset. In 2026, the gears failed to engage; the dealership attributed this to clutch problems and denied warranty coverage, leaving her to pay R7 000. The issue recurred, and she was then told the gearbox was at fault and would be sent to a specialist. After a supposed repair, the problem returned—diagnosed this time as gear selection—and the vehicle was returned as fixed. One week later, the car became stuck in the middle of a busy road, unable to select a gear. The dealership now says it can do nothing except repurchase the car, with my sister covering the shortfall. The emotional and financial strain Nissan has caused her is unbearable.
