Terrible Experience with the Nissan Magnite and Nissan SA
I am deeply disappointed with my experience with the Nissan Magnite purchased from Nissan Pinetown on January 31, 2023. Despite my initial trust in the Nissan brand, my vehicle has been plagued by numerous issues, demonstrating poor quality and unreliable performance.
1. Initial Damage and Unprofessional Conduct - Upon delivery, the car had a noticeable dent, and all four windows had bubbles in the smash and grab film, necessitating replacement. The dealership manager, initially agreed to address these issues but later became uncooperative and even shouted at me over the phone when I inquired about the repair status, this was eventually sorted out. 2. *****ulent Addition of Tyre Warranty - The dealership’s finance representative, added a tyre warranty to my contract without my consent to earn commission. She told me that a free tyre warranty was provided from the dealership as part of my deal, what she showed me on her screen was not what she made me sign for on the iPad. It took several months of effort to have it removed, with no repercussions for those responsible despite reporting the incident to Nissan Head Office. 3. Reverse Camera Issues - The reverse camera malfunctioned three times before replacement. The malfunctioning part was only replaced on the fourth visit to the dealership for this problem. 4. Driver's Side Window Malfunction - The driver's side window repeatedly malfunctioned, remaining stuck, which posed a significant safety risk. The malfunctioning part was only replaced on the fourth visit to the dealership for this problem 5. Rattling Sound from Clutch and Accelerator - The vehicle developed a rattling sound when using the clutch or accelerator, caused by a cable out of place and grinding against another part. 6. Clutch Kicking Back - Post-repair, the clutch began kicking back after only three days, requiring an additional visit to the dealership. 7. Reverse Gear Selection Issue - The reverse gear selection is problematic. I was informed that it is not synchronized with the rest of the gears, resulting in difficulty when trying to engage reverse. Often, I need to first select 1st gear before being able to select reverse, which is inconvenient and raises concerns about the transmission's reliability and safety.
On the 25 June, I reported my frustration to Nissan SA and requested that a solution be provided as at this time my vehicle has already been to the dealership 12 times. It took 2 weeks for Nissan SA to provide any kind of feedback to be as they stated that the dealership failed to maintain complete records of repairs and services, relying on manual entries and neglecting to document the frequency of issues.
Nissan then requested for me to take the vehicle for a full inspection (13th time) on the 11th July. Following the inspection, I was informed on the 18th July that there were no issues with the car. However, I received no resolution to ongoing concerns and was advised to monitor for future problems and their frequency. They indicated they would book the car in again for repair if necessary. After stating that the reverse gear was still problematic, I have been asked to bring the vehicle in again for the 14th time so the reverse gear can be checked again as Nissan SA now states that the explanation given to me was not in line with the design of the vehicle.
I have experienced continuous inconvenience and safety concerns due to these issues, 13 times in the 1.5 years old which is unacceptable for a vehicle considering it was bought brand new. It is really difficult and frustrating to have to take time off from work to visit the dealership so many times. If I choose to sell my vehicle, I will incur a financial loss due to the large capital deduction I have already made on the amount. Nissan SA's failure to be accountable and provide adequate service undermines their commitment to customer satisfaction and vehicle quality. 1st case manager – Tebogo 2nd case manager - Gonste
